Flatbed Trailer

A flatbed trailer is a deckover type of trailer that has a flat, level surface for hauling cargo. Flatbed trailers are available in various sizes and can be configured in either bumper pull, gooseneck or pintle hitch styles.

Flatbed trailers offer some of the heaviest load carrying capacities ranging up to 40,000lbs and with deck lengths of up to 40’. Common applications are heavy equipment hauling, hay hauling and hotshot applications to name a few. They can be configured with flat decks paired with slide-in ramps, dovetails with flip-over ramps, hydraulic dovetails or even tilt deck designs, and either open or enclosed.

Enclosed flatbed trailers are typically used to transport items that need to be protected from the elements, while open flatbed trailers are better suited for hauling large items.

Flatbed trailers are generally made from steel or aluminum and are outfitted with one or more doors on the side and/or rear for loading and unloading. Some flatbed trailers also have a ramp that can be lowered to facilitate loading and unloading.
